Novak Djokovic and Alex de Minaur have risen the ATP rankings after playing out the China Open final in Beijing.
De Minaur retired hurt against Djokovic while he trailed 6-7(3-7), 1-0, thus handing the Serbian legend his seventh title at the tournament. Djokovic could return to the China Open, having left the door open for a comeback after his latest success. He now boasts an extraordinary 34-0 record at the event.
Along with his 102nd career title and the prize money that has come with it, the 39-year-old also finds himself back in the ATP top 10 after his lengthy stay in Beijing. And his fellow China Open finalist De Minaur has also climbed the rankings following his efforts at the tournament, which were unfortunately ended only by an injury against Djokovic.

Novak Djokovic and Alex de Minaur rise ATP rankings after Beijing final
Currently out with a knee injury, Jannik Sinner missed the China Open, but he remains the number one player in the world. That will, however, change in the near future after Sinner confirmed the end of his season because of his injury. But for now Alexander Zverev continues in second place, with Japan Open champion Carlos Alcaraz also staying in third.
There is also no change from places four to seven, with Ben Shelton, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Daniil Medvedev and Flavio Cobolli all unmoved. But Djokovic has just risen three places to eighth after his Beijing success, with De Minaur up one spot to ninth after reaching the final. Meanwhile, Frances Tiafoe has fallen two places to 10th in the latest ATP rankings update.

Novak Djokovic messages Alex de Minaur after their China Open final
Djokovic has been quick to celebrate his China Open title on social media, where he has sent a classy message to his final opponent. Sharing a post on his Instagram, the Beijing champion wrote: “A strange end to a magical week. Wishing [Alex de Minaur] a speedy recovery. Proud to win a seventh time at a tournament so close to my heart. Thank you [China Open]. And thank you to the Chinese people for the truly incredible support. No place like Beijing.”
It’s the perfect summary from Djokovic, who did indeed experience a strange but successful trip to Beijing. Most notably, Daniil Medvedev was defaulted in their semifinal after hitting a spectator with a ball. But before that he knocked out top seed and US Open champion Alexander Zverev, which followed his earlier wins over Nuno Borges and Yunchaokete Bu.
