Iga Swiatek is even being impacted in the WTA rankings despite calling an end to her 2026 season.
Swiatek announced that she was ending her season last week, explaining that she needed to rest and recover her body fully.
This also confirmed that Swiatek would fail to qualify for the WTA Finals for the first time in seven years after a relatively disappointing season, which saw her fail to win a major title.
Although Swiatek will not return to the WTA Tour until 2027, she is the only player who has moved upwards inside the top 10 of the rankings this week.

Iga Swiatek, Leylah Fernandez and Katie Boulter all move up in the rankings
Swiatek may not have gained any points in the rankings this week, but she has still climbed one spot after Wimbledon champion Linda Noskova dropped 325 points from reaching the final of the Tokyo Open last year.
Although she will not play again this year, Swiatek only has 200 points coming off her ranking until 2027.
While there were no other movers inside the top 10, Elena Rybakina winning the Ningbo Open has put her within touching distance of confirming her position as the year-end world number one, which she can secure this week at the Tokyo Open.
| WTA Rankings | Points |
| 1. Elena Rybakina | 9,501 |
| 2. Aryna Sabalenka | 7,550 |
| 3. Mirra Andreeva | 6,306 |
| 4. Jessica Pegula | 6,225 |
| 5. Coco Gauff | 5,973 |
| 6. Elina Svitolina | 5,229 |
| 7. Karolina Muchova | 4,725 |
| 8. Iga Swiatek (+1) | 4,389 |
| 9. Linda Noskova (-1) | 4,353 |
| 10. Marta Kostyuk | 3,920 |
It has also been an important week for both Leylah Fernandez and Katie Boulter, who have also both risen in this week’s WTA rankings.
Fernandez reached the final of the Ningbo Open, where she lost to Rybakina, while Boulter reached the semi-finals in Osaka. As a result, Fernandez has climbed seven places up to world number 23, continuing her late rise up the rankings after recently winning the Singapore Open as well.
Boulter has risen 10 places up to world number 48, which is her highest ranking since August last year, as she overtakes Sonay Kartal to return to British number one.
Who is the biggest riser in the top 100 of the WTA rankings this week?
While Swiatek, Fernandez and Boulter are some of the notable movers up the rankings this week, there is another player who has moved up even more than they have.
Katerina Siniakova won her sixth WTA singles title in Osaka, showing that she is much more than just a doubles specialist, having won 13 Grand Slam titles in doubles.
This win has propelled Siniakova up a huge 37 places from world number 86 to world number 49, as the biggest mover inside the top 100 this week.
Siniakova thrashed Ashlyn Krueger 6-1, 6-0 in the Japan Open final, but the American has also been rewarded heavily for her run to the final in Osaka, climbing 11 places up to world number 44.
There are few weeks left in the 2026 WTA season, with tournaments this week taking place in Tokyo and Guangzhou, featuring the likes of Rybakina, Naomi Osaka and Alex Eala.
