Arthur Gea stunned Ben Shelton at the Shanghai Masters earlier this week.
After defeating Jaime Faria and compatriot Ugo Humbert, the French world number 56 defeated Shelton 7-6, 7-6 in the Shanghai Masters third round.
Consequently, Gea will play 13th seed and French Open semi-finalist Jakub Mensik in the fourth round on Tuesday.
Shelton will certainly come away from the Chinese Masters event feeling underwhelmed.
However, the 23-year-old should temper his disappointment somewhat after such a successful few months on the Tour.

How did Ben Shelton perform at the 2025 Shanghai Masters?
Shelton was seeded sixth at the 2025 Shanghai Masters and one of the favourites for the esteemed title.
It was not to be for the young American, who fell at the very first hurdle.
David Goffin, the former ATP Finals finalist who retired earlier this year, defeated Shelton 6-2, 6-4 in the second round.
“From the start, I started to feel really well with my ground strokes,” Goffin said afterwards. “I took the ball early, I was returning really well and serving really well, like the first round.

“I just managed to save a couple of break points, but I think overall I served really well and I played really well after my serve, so I think that was the key to put pressure on Ben.
“But at the end it was tough to finish it, but I made it with a good service game, so I’m really happy.”
Goffin exited the tournament in round three as he was forced to retire with injury while trailing Canadian 31st seed Gabriel Diallo 0-3.
