This training aid helped me see my setup and swing differently

There’s a reason mirrors have remained a staple of golf instruction. When working on your swing, you can only rely on feel so much. That’s why it’s helpful to have a way to check your body position and alignment.

And that’s exactly why I wanted to try the Why Golf Alignment Mirror. I was looking for something I could use during practice to keep a closer eye on some of the key fundamentals and mechanics in my swing.

And, to my surprise, the alignment mirror has been pretty useful.

The biggest benefit that I noticed right away was the instant visual feedback. In the past, I had often relied on what I felt — or thought — I was doing. Instead of guessing, I was now able to see everything right in front of me, which allowed me to examine my alignment and setup in real time.

This mirror also makes it easy to check other aspects that I had never thought about checking before, like my posture or shoulder alignment.

I found the mirror especially valuable when working on swing changes. I could use it to establish a more consistent starting position and then monitor what my body was doing throughout the swing. That helped me identify some lateral movement that I hadn’t been aware of. Once I could actually see it, I was able to make a quick correction before it had a chance to become a bad habit — something that would have taken hours to fix down the road.

With this training aid, there’s no technology to figure out and virtually no learning curve. It’s so straightforward that anyone can understand how to use it, and benefit from practicing with it.

For golfers who struggle with alignment, setup or unwanted movement, the Why Golf Alignment Mirror is a smart way to check your swing. It helped me become more aware of my tendencies and, more importantly, gave me a simpler way to work on them.

Sometimes the quickest way to improve your swing is to stop guessing — and start looking.

A golf alignment mirror with a grid pattern, designed as a training aid to improve your golf swing and set up, is placed in front of a green sign that reads SEE YOURSELF SUCKING LESS. Two orange rods are in front of the mirror.

Why Golf Alignment Mirror Training Aid

Ever wonder why some days you feel like everything clicks and others you feel totally lost? Usually, it’s because your setup and alignment (e.g. body lines, posture, head position) naturally change a little day to day. It’s just part of being human. We’re talking about changes so small that you can’t even feel them, but they can really throw things off. Until now, there hasn’t been an easy way to make sure your fundamentals stay consistent from day-to-day, or even swing to swing.
