“Don’t bite off more than you can chew, big dog. You thinking Boots is soft, man. You thinking Boots is easy work, man,” Bradley said on his YouTube channel. “I promise you, man. I’m telling you, that’s a bad style matchup for Devin Haney.”
Devin’s ring intelligence would give him periods of success, in Bradley’s view, but Ennis’ length, strength and punch output would eventually become too much.
“He can match his output, all of that, man. He long, a lot longer than Dev. Yeah, Dev is smart. Yeah, Dev is more calculated with his approach. Yeah, he will have some success, but he going to get his ass chopped up and chopped down, and Philly walked.”
Haney’s recent victory over Brian Norman Jr. gave Bradley a comparison. Devin repeatedly tied Norman up when he came inside, something Bradley described as his “spiderweb defense.”
Bradley does not believe Ennis will give Haney the same opportunities.
“You ain’t going to be able to do that with Boots, man. Boots going to let them hands fly,” Bradley said. “From where they are, he ain’t going to fall in on your ass either. He going to throw them combinations.”
That difference is central to Bradley’s prediction that Ennis would stop Haney. Boots can throw fast combinations from range without falling inside and giving Devin the opportunity to smother his offense.
Ennis is pursuing titles at 154, with IBF champion Josh Kelly among the potential opponents. Bill wants Boots to handle his business in the division before Devin eventually moves up. Bradley thinks that is one tree the Haneys would be better off not barking up.
