Travis Head’s act after dismissal vs BAN catches Adam Gilchrist off guard

Australian cricket legend Adam Gilchrist had never seen such things before in his entire career. Travis Head, who was bowled out by the Bangladesh National Cricket Team fast bowler Hasan Mahmud, took a few moments on the crease, turned around to fix the bails on the stumps again before starting to walk off the pitch.

It was something unusual from the Australia National Cricket Team’s opener Travis Head, unusual for Gilchrist as well. A batter whose stumps have just been rattled by a bowler fixing the bails is something cricket fans will gonna see in everyday cricket.

I’ve never seen that in all my cricketing career: Adam Gilchrist on Travis Head’s act after dismissal vs BAN.

In the second innings of the Test in Darwin, the Bangladesh pacer hit the good length of the pitch, angling the ball out from the left-hander Travis Head. Head angled his bat to play a cut shot through the point, but the ball hit the inside of the bat and then lashed on the stumps. Head departed for only 17 off 35. In the first innings too, it was Hasan Mahmud who bowled Head for the first time in the match.

“Chopped on! Hassan Mahmud gets the job done again. It’s the angled bat of Travis Head. This is extraordinary; I’ve never seen that in all my cricketing career. A batsman so disappointed, but turns around and sets the stumps back up,” Adam Gilchrist on air, from the commentary box.

Bangladesh are currently the favorite to register a win over Australia in Darwin

The day proved very harsh for Head as he dropped a catch before losing his scalp against the Bangladesh pacer. Actually, the match turned unexpectedly ruthless for the Aussies. When most of the cricket fans assumed Australia would establish domination against the lower-ranked Bangladesh National Cricket Team, things turned around drastically.

From the first innings of the Test of the ongoing World Test Championship 2025-27 (WTC 2025-27), it is the Tiger Brigade who remains in the driving seat, and currently, they are looking strong enough to claim some valuable points in the match.

Travis Head dropped a catch in the ongoing Australia vs Bangladesh Test match.

Before the break on Day 3, the Australian cricket team confronted a couple of rare setbacks in fielding. In a single overbye skipper Pat Cummins, they dropped two catches. The catch dropped by Steve Smith was probably the easiest chance until that point of the match.

Then, Head put down a chance. However, it was not an easy chance for him. Head covered a lot of ground and strecthced his body as well, but could not grab the ball properly. So far in the match, nothing seems to be going in favour of the Australian cricket team.
