Three Teros have secured their playing future in Europe. The trio of Diego Arbelo, Ícaro Amarillo and Manuel Rosmarino have all completed moves this week. The moves mean three players in the frame for Rugby World Cup 2027 selection will be active in Europe in the upcoming season.
31-year-old Diego Arbelo will play for Aparejadores Rugby in the Spanish premier division, the División de Honor. This will see the 28 time capped Tero playing under Óscar “Cochi” Durán. Arbelo makes the move from Rouen Normandie in France. He previously played for Colorno in Italy. His move to Spain is for the 2026-2027 season.
Fly half Ícaro Amarillo is on the move for his first experience playing in Europe. He will link up with Académica de Coimbra, in the Portuguese premier division in September. The move is a one year deal. Amarillo debuted for Uruguay in 2024 against Spain and has earned 8 caps thus far for Los Teros.
Second-rower Manuel Rosmarino is also on his way to Europe for his first experience abroad. The 23-year-old moves to Rangers Rugby Vicenza to complete in the Serie A, Italy’s premier domestic league. Rosmarino held down a starting position for Peñarol in Super Rugby Americas 2026. He has earned 5 caps for Uruguay since debuting last year against Paraguay.
