The November 4 episode of AEW Dynamite sees a return of Blood and Guts, with Will Ospreay featuring in the men’s match.

For the AEW World Champion, the match is familiar territory, standing opposite The Don Callis Family. What is less familiar to the star is the stipulation itself, with this being his first outing under the stipulation.

With The Don Callis Family on one side of the structure and a team of Adam Copeland, Steven Borden, Darby Allin, and The Young Bucks at his side, Ospreay could find himself the target in more ways than one:

There will be blood

Ospreay is no stranger to spilling blood, at the November 4 match will likely see the AEW World Champion shed pints of it as he seeks victory for his team.

The AEW World Championship changed hands at All In: London, with Ospreay defeating Kenny Omega, with plenty of blood during the brutal encounter, and his hair left red from all that went on. The title is not on the line in Blood and Guts, but Ospreay is bound to bring the fight through blood, sweat and tears.

Team betrayal

The purpose of Blood and Guts is clear: a showcase of visceral dominance that sees two teams vie for victory, born from a dismissive comment made by Vince McMahon, with Tony Khan describing it back in 2020 as:

“It’s a very serious match, it’s everything to us, and it’s like our heart and soul struggle, but it’s also a metaphor or microcosm of our company in that it’s both a very serious thing…”

The threat doesn’t just come from the opposing team, however, with Adam Copeland having previously made it clear he wants the AEW World Championship in his retirement year.

A singular vision

The Don Callis Family are not without their ambitious members, with Kyle Fletcher leading the charge.

For The Protostar, he has Ospreay in his sights, seeing the AEW World Championship as the prize that he should possess at the cost of his former friend.

Ospreay vs. Fletcher is confirmed for AEW Full Gear on November 14, with the Blood and Guts match offering a perfect opportunity for the Don Callis Family to ensure that the champion doesn’t make it to Phoenix, Arizona at anywhere near full strength.

The Don Callis Family are a united threat

A faction of potential top stars, The Don Callis Family has an “all the gold” mindset that is yet to include the AEW World Championship.

If the focus is on bringing the title home, the skill will be doing it with such a singular focus that only one member is in contention. Of the members of the family in the match, Okada is the unknown element, with ambitions of his own that could rub him up against Fletcher. Then there’s the possibility that Wardlow, who returned in September at the Tribute to PAC show, could covet the top title.

The story is more interesting with multiple threats

It would be easy to tell a story of one champion and one clear challenger, and it’s something that has worked for generations in professional wrestling.

Presenting multiple potential opponents, however, offers the chance to unsettle the champion, with the threat coming from multiple directions at the same time.
