World Junior Championships qualifier Lori Awad has announced her verbal commitment to swim for Villanova University beginning in the fall of 2027.
“I am SO SUPER thrilled and blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Villanova University!!! I want to start off by saying thank you to Coach Rick, Coach Laura, and the rest of the coaching staff at Villanova for this opportunity! Also, thank you so much to Coach Ross, Coach Laura, and all of my other coaches for pushing me to get to this point. Shoutout to my awesome family, friends, SSAN teammates, and especially my lane 4 originals for their support🤞I’m extremely excited to be apart of this team! Go Wildcats!! 💙🤍”
Born in Houston, Texas, and a dual citizen of the United States and Lebanon, Awad is a senior at Klein Collins High School in Texas, where she has been a member of the school’s varsity swimming and diving team since her freshman year. She currently trains year-round with Swim Streamline at Northampton, primarily specializing in free, fly and IM, and she has represented Lebanon on the international stage.
Awad turned in a strong showing at the 2025 Winter Junior Championships – West in December, logging two lifetime best times. She contested the 100 free (52.31 – PB), 100 fly (56.06) and 200 IM (2:06.12).
At the 2026 Justin Sectionals in March, Awad posted a series of top performances, earning a second swim in four events. She took 5th in the 200 fly (2:02.20) after setting a best time of 2:02.04 during prelims, and she placed 11th in the 100 fly (55.74), 27th in the 100 free (51.70 – PB) and 28th in the 50 free (24.23).
Awad qualified for the Texas high school state championship three years in a row and is a four-time state finalist. At the 2026 UIL 6A State Championships, she placed 11th in the 100 fly (56.03) and 14th in the 200 free (1:52.07). Two weeks prior to that, Awad had set lifetime best times in both of those events at the UIL Region 4-6A Championship, where she took 3rd in the 200 free (1:51.19) and 100 fly (55.52).
At the 2025 World Junior Championships (LCM) in Romania, Awad contested the 50 free (28.52), 100 free (59.66), 50 fly (29.55), 100 fly (1:05.03) and 200 IM (2:29.56). The competition marked her second time racing at a World Juniors meet, having also competed at the 2022 iteration in Peru.
Awad currently holds two Lebanese national records: in the LCM 100 free (58.75) and LCM 100 fly (1:02.61), in addition to holding multiple Klein Collins team records. Outside of the pool, Awad earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American Honors for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Best Times SCY:
- 100 fly – 55.52
- 200 fly – 2:02.04
- 100 free – 51.70

A Division I Mid-Major program in the Big East Conference, the Villanova women won their 13th-straight conference title last season. Based on the results from the 2026 Big East Championships, Awad would have landed in the ‘A’ final in the 100 fly and 200 fly and the ‘B’ final in the 100 free, 200 free and 200 IM, setting her up to be a strong contributor right from the start.
Joining Awad in Villanova’s class of 2031 are Mary Drummond, Annika Jorgensen and Emily Connors, all of whom should make for strong training partners over the next four years.
