In case you settled in for a brief siesta, no problemo, you haven’t missed anything. The PGA Tour remains in Mexico for the second straight week, shifting from Nuevo Vallarta, going northwest across the Gulf of California to Cabo San Lucas. It is the fourth edition of the World Wide Technology Championship to be held at the El Cardonal Course at the Diamante Resort, a Tiger Woods design, and it is the sixth of eight FedEx Cup Fall events in 2026.
This is the first of the remaining three fall series tournaments for players to earn a spot in the top 100 of the FedExCup Standings and secure themselves a spot on Tour for the 2027 season. The RSM Classic at Sea Island in St. Simons Island, Georgia, is the final stop of the fall series, teeing off on Thursday, November 19. Here are those players currently ranked from 95-110 in the FedExCup Standings. (*denotes players who are exempt for 2027)
95. John Parry
96. Max Greyserman
97. Billy Horschel
98. Kevin Yu
99. Chandler Phillips
100. Jason Day
101. Mackenzie Hughes
102. Taylor Pendrith
103. Brandt Snedeker*
104. A.J. Ewart
105. Lee Hodges
106. Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen
107. Chandler Blanchet
108. Brooks Koepka*
109. Tony Finau*
110. Chris Kirk
This golf course has proven to be one of the easier tracks on the Tour calendar. The average winning score over the first three times we have seen this course is nearly 27-under par. Ben Griffin is your defending champion, winning last fall with a score of 29-under. As at Vidanta Vallarta, El Cardonal’s main defense is the wind, given its location between the Gulf of California and the Pacific Ocean. However, the forecast looks tame, with high temperatures in the low 80s and light winds of 5-15 MPH.
Also, like last week, the golf course is wall-to-wall Paspalum Grass with especially wide fairways and massive greens. For resort courses in windy locations, this design is not uncommon. It would be next to impossible for a typical resort guest to play a course in heavy winds without oversized fairways and greens. In addition, there is really no rough to speak of off the fairways at El Cardonal. Like these two Tour stops in Mexico, we see similar designs in potentially windy, resort locations like Kapalua, Southern Utah at the Black Desert Resort and the Dominican Republic at Corales Puntacana.
The golf course is a Par 72 that measures close to 7,500 yards. I leaned heavily on Strokes Gained: Approach this week, along with Scrambling and Hole Proximity from 175 to 200+ yards. We got it done with Andrew Novak using a very similar formula last week, and I believe the puzzle is not all that different here. I also looked at Par 5 Scoring, Birdie or Better Percentage, 3-Putt Avoidance and Strokes Gained: Putting (Paspalum).
I already made reference to a few of the courses that I believe provide correlation: The Plantation Course at Kapalua, the former home of the Sentry Tournament of Champions, Corales, Vidanta Vallarta and Black Desert. I also believe there are connections with TPC Summerlin, the former home of the Shriners Children’s Open in Las Vegas, Sea Island (RSM Classic) and the Grand Reserve Golf Club, where they play the Puerto Rico Open.
Blades Brown (30-1)
I landed on Novak two weeks in a row and it worked, so let’s try again with the 19-year-old who was third earlier this season in Puerto Rico, 11th at Corales Puntacana and finished top-20 last week at Vidanta Vallarta – where off the tee he was brilliant, ranking eighth in Driving Distance and No. 1 in Driving Accuracy. Over the last 20 rounds, Brown ranks fifth in this field for SG: Approach and is 22nd in Scrambling.
Steven Fisk (55-1)
Fisk is another player who can putt, is very good with the long irons and is both long and straight off the tee. He closed with a 63 last week at Vidanta to finish runner-up to Novak. A month ago, he finished seventh at Black Desert. This is only Fisk’s second full season on Tour, and he already has two wins. Last season he finished fourth in Puerto Rico. Over the last 20 rounds, he ranks third in this field for Hole Proximity from 175-200 yards.
Seamus Power (60-1)
It has been a minute since I have backed my fellow Las Vegas resident, but he seems to flourish in resort, coastal locations, with his last Tour victory coming at Port Royal Golf Club in Bermuda in 2022, where he just lost in a playoff two weeks ago. Power was 11th earlier this year at Corales Puntacana and has three top-10 finishes at Sea Island. Over the last 20 rounds, he ranks fifth in this field for Birdie or Better Percentage and is eighth in Scrambling.
Chris Kirk (60-1)
Here’s a guy who has won at both Sea Island and Kapalua. Kirk has two top-10 finishes in his last three starts, and as noted earlier, he currently sits at 110th in the FedEx Cup standings. With the way he is playing, he looks on track to crack the top 100 very soon. Over the last 20 rounds, Kirk is No. 1 in this field for SG: Approach, No. 2 on the Par 5s, 11th in Scrambling and ninth in 3-Putt Avoidance.
Luke Clanton (75-1)
Like Blades Brown, I’m going to give Clanton another go for the second week in a row. He is currently 123rd in the FedEx Cup Fall standings and has finished seventh, 11th and 29th in his last three starts. Clanton also finished fifth earlier this year in Puerto Rico and was runner-up at the 2024 RSM Classic. Over the last 20 rounds, he ranks sixth in this field for SG: Approach and is 17th for both Hole Proximity from 175-200 yards and in Scrambling. Clanton ranks 10th for SG: Par 5s and third for 3-Putt Avoidance.
Max McGreevy (95-1)
McGreevy sits in a similar spot in the standings to Clanton and has also been playing well lately, with two top-30 finishes in two recent starts. He was 26th at Black Desert a month ago, where he ranked eighth in that field for SG: Off the Tee. He was 29th last week at Vidanta, where he ranked fourth in that field for SG: Approach. Over the last 20 rounds, McGreevy ranks fifth in this field for Hole Proximity from 175-200 yards and is 21st in Scrambling. McGreevy was 11th earlier this season in Puerto Rico. He finished runner-up at Corales Puntacana in 2022 and was runner-up last year at the RSM Classic. He finished 11th at Black Desert in both 2024 and in 2025.
