Having been called up to the main roster in January, WWE Crown Jewel could very well be the turning point for Je’Von Evans.

Last night’s Raw saw the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line as Je’Von Evans responded to disparaging comments from SmackDown’s Sami Zayn.

With Zayn less than impressed that Evans had interrupted him before Money in the Bank, the Young OG would make his feelings clear after the Undisputed WWE Champion tried to put him in his place.

The WWE championship goals wouldn’t end there, with Adam Pearce confirming a Crown Jewel title match later in the evening that may be a turning point for Evans:

The Undisputed WWE Championship match

Evans would get his Undisputed WWE Championship match, with an impressive outing for the Young OG that would be derailed by the appearance of Bron Breakker after Penta made his presence felt, complete with the Money in the Bank briefcase.

With Zayn retaining the championship, it was quite the way to open WWE Raw, placing Evans in a strong position, despite the defeat, and showcasing the easy chemistry he brings to proceedings, particularly noticeable when sharing the ring with a veteran the caliber of Zayn.

Penta wants it because he wants the titles

Last night’s WWE Raw saw Adam Pearce confirm the World Tag Team Championship match for Crown Jewel after Penta set out his case for wanting the titles, saying:

“We want Bron Breakker and Austin Theory because we want the World Team titles.”

For The Vision, this will be the first time that Breakker & Theory have defended the titles since reclaiming them from The Street Profits on July 6.

Penta and Evans both competed in the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match, with the Mexican star being the one to claim the briefcase and a championship opportunity that he is yet to cash in.

Working champions incoming

If Penta and Evans capture the World Tag Team Championship at WWE Crown Jewel, there can only be a hope that they actually defend the titles on a more regular basis on Raw than The Vision.

Despite Theory and Breakker being well featured on Raw, there’s an argument to be made that the latter is biding his time until a world championship opportunity emerges, while his fellow champion also has the potential to break out on his own, following a singles journey that has seen him as a two-time World Champion.

For Evans, the World Tag Team Championship would see him with a title for the first time since signing with WWE in November 2023, while Penta is a former Intercontinental Champion. This partnership can only elevate Evans, seasoning him for the future as a top star on the main roster, while continuing to showcase Penta.

First WWE championship reign for Evans

2026 has been a testing ground for Evans on the main roster, with the star competing in the Royal Rumble and being eliminated by Randy Orton, later qualifying for Elimination Chamber (being eliminated by Logan Paul), challenging Penta for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 42 in a six-man ladder match, and qualifying and being unsuccessful in the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

It’s quite the catalog of showings, regardless of the outcome, for the Young OG and shows that WWE has faith in the star to deliver on a promise that can only end with his first championship reign.
