The WWE World Tag Team Championship is being defended for the first time since July at Crown Jewel, with post-PLE plans emerging.

On November 7, Austin Theory & Bron Breakker will put the WWE World Tag Team Championship on the line as The Vision defend against Penta & Je’Von Evans.

With The Vision having recaptured the title from The Street Profits on the July 6 episode of WWE Raw, it’ll mark the first time in more than 120 days since the titles were last defended, but where next for the championship?

The Vision attacks lead to a match

Okay, it’s pretty much how it goes: there’s an attack, there’s frustration, it leads to a match.

That was certainly the case for Penta and Evans having suffered a number of attacks at the hands of The Vision over past weeks.

Things really came to a head for Evans after Bron Breakker attacked him during his Undisputed WWE Championship match against Sami Zayn.

A different match was planned for WWE Crown Jewel

At some point, a different match featuring The Vision, Penta and Evans was on the table, with the Wrestling Observer Newsletter shedding light on plans courtesy of Dave Meltzer.

According to Meltzer, Bron Breakker, Austin Theory, and Bronson Reed would face Penta, Je’Von Evans, and Oba Femi. Arguably, this would have been a solid way to progress the story between Femi and The Vision, which recently saw The Ruler turn down an advance from Paul Heyman.

Plans were changed, apparently, because it was felt that a six-man tag before the World Tag Team Championship match would not make sense.

And, still?

When it comes to not making sense, not defending the World Tag Team Championship in over 120 days would arguably fit into that category.

With that in mind, The Vision could drop the titles at Crown Jewel, but that would lead to a situation where Penta is not only one half of the World Tag Team Champions but also the Money in the Bank briefcase holder, with a world championship opportunity at his disposal.

Breakker, in particular, is a star with a bright future ahead and world championships to follow, and having him lose a title on the first defense of the second reign would surely raise eyebrows, unless there’s a solid story to be told through that loss. It also doesn’t do Austin Theory any favors when it comes to presenting an arrogant star aware of his own potential.

The never-ending story

Penta has the Money in the Bank briefcase, Evans is likely to be in a championship picture in the near future, Bron Breakker is bound for a world championship, and Austin Theory will continue to excel in whatever capacity he finds himself.

Regardless of the outcome of Crown Jewel, the story won’t end for any of the stars involved, although it can only be hoped that the World Tag Team Championship will be defended on a more regular basis than once every three months or so.
