Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Brady Cordonnier, a finalist at the 2026 YMCA National Long Course Championships, has announced his verbal commitment to swim for Iona University in New York beginning in the fall of 2027.

“I am blessed and excited to announce my athletic and academic commitment to Iona University! Firstly, I would like to thank Coach Nick and Coach Mauro for giving me this opportunity to compete and continue my swimming journey at the D1 level. I would like to thank my parents and sister for always supporting me and making endless sacrifices for my dreams. I would like to thank all my prior coaches but especially the SPY Coaching staff and Coach Mike Austin for their guidance and changing me into the swimmer I am today. And finally I would like to thank all my teammates for supporting me and cheering me on! GO GAELS!!!”

The Ohio native is a senior at Marysville High School, where he has competed for the school’s varsity swimming and diving team since his freshman year. He also currently swims year-rounds with Springfield Family YMCA and primarily specializes in free, fly and IM.

Cordonnier posted a series of top performances at the 2025 Northwest Ohio Classic in December. He snagged the runner-up spot in the 200 IM (1:58.74) and took 7th in the 100 free (48.41), logging personal best times in both events.

Cordonnie logged another series of fast swims at the 2026 OHSAA (Ohio High School Athletic Association) District Championships in Athens. He placed 6th in the 200 free (1:43.04 – PB) and 7th in the 500 free (4:39.94 – PB), and he set a personal best time in the 100 free (48.06) as the leadoff on the 400 free relay.

At the 2026 SWOYSL AA Championship a month later, Cordonnier turned in a string of lifetime best performances. He took 2nd in the 1650 free (16:25.84 – PB) and 3rd in the 1000 free (9:45.45 – PB), and he placed 9th in the 400 IM (4:18.35 – PB), 11th in the 200 IM (2:01.77), 18th in the 100 fly (54.87) and 32nd in the 50 free (22.71 – PB).

Cordonnier raced at the 2026 YMCA National Long Course Championships over the summer, earning a second swim in two events and posting a personal best time in four events. He placed 10th in the 800 free (8:42.12 – PB) and 21st in the 200 free (1:58.16 – PB). He also placed 14th in the 400 free (4:11.86) after setting a lifetime best time of 4:11.74 during prelims, and he contested the 50 fly (27.27) and 200 IM (2:19.78 – PB).

A Division I Mid-Major program in the Metro Conference, Iona’s men’s team took 4th-place at last season’s conference championships. Based on the results from the 2026 MAAC Championships, Cordonnier would have landed in the ‘C’ final in the 200 free and 500 free, and he would have placed 17th in the 1650 free, giving him a chance to score some points early on for the team.

Currently set to join Cordonnier in the pool next fall are Colin Stueber (breast/free) and Tyler Hopkins (free/back), both of whom should make for strong training partners throughout their time together.
