Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Mikayla Tan from San Ramon Valley Aquatics in San Ramon, California, has announced her verbal commitment to the Stanford University swimming and diving class of 2032. She wrote on social media:
“I am SO blessed and excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Stanford University!! I would like to thank God for His endless guidance and love, my family for their unwavering support, and especially my older brother who has always believed in me. None of this would be possible without my coaches, friends, and teammates for their support throughout this journey!! I’m so thankful to Coach Chris, Coach Annie, and Coach Marcus for giving me this amazing opportunity!! Go Card!! 🌲🌲❤️”
With her commitment, Tan becomes the latest in a series of sibling commitments to arch-rival Bay Area colleges, Cal and Stanford (think Alba Arnall / Alba Arnall and Leah Polonsky / Ron Polonsky), as her older brother Zachary Tan swims at Cal.
Tan is the top 100/200 breaststroker in the cohort, and for that, we ranked her #3 on our Way Too Early list of top girls’ swimming recruits in the class of 2028. She is a national age group record holder in both the United States and Singapore, which she represents internationally. At the 2025 World Aquatics Junior Championships, she finaled in the 100 breast (8th) and was 12th in the 50 breast, 14th in the 200 breast, and 19th in the 200 IM. Two weeks earlier, she had won the 50 breast (31.41), been runner-up in the 200 breast (2:28.13) and 200 IM (2:15.20), and come in 3rd in the 100 breast (1:09.40) at U.S. Summer Junior Nationals. This summer, she clocked PBs in all her best events at TYR Pro Swim Series in Sacramento, taking home first place in the 100 breast (1:08.16) and 200 breast (2:26.35), 3rd in the 50 breast (31.14), and 4th in the 200 IM (2:14.92). She represented Singapore at Junior Pan Pacific Championships (4th in the 50 breast, 3rd in the 100 breast, 7th in the 200 breast), and again at Asian Games in September (7th in the 50 breast, 8th in the 100 breast, and 12th in the 200 breast and 200 IM).
In short course yards, most of her best times come from December of 2025. At Winter Juniors West, she won the 100 breast (59.04) and 200 breast (2:06.74), breaking the meet record in the latter. She was runner-up in the 200 IM (1:56.13). A week later, she competed at CA/NV Sectionals and logged lifetime bests in the 50 free (23.42), 100 free (50.37), 50 breast (27.43), and 50 fly (24.47). She added a 200 free PB (1:48.55) in February.
Tan is a massive addition to the Stanford roster; she is already fast enough to score at NCAAs in the 200 breast and 200 IM and is within a tenth of what it took in 2026 to make All-American in the 100 breast (58.98). She will join #2 Reina Liu and #6 Daniela Linares Danzos in the Cardinal class of 2032.
Best SCY times:
- 200 breast – 2:06.74 (best in class)
- 100 breast – 59.04 (best in class)
- 200 IM – 1:56.13
