FSU Seminoles Snag 2028 Verbal From CIF State Finalist Rosa Houborg
NEW COMMIT: Junior National qualifier Rosa Houborg of San Ramon, Calif. has announced her verbal commitment to Florida State University beginning in Fall 2028. Houborg is a talented mid-distance freestyler and IMer.
She will join Lizzy Johnson in Tallahassee as a member of the Seminoles’ Class of 2032.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Florida State University! I want to thank my family, my friends and my teammates for all of their support through this journey. A special thanks to Coach David for pushing me to be the swimmer I am today and for believing in me every day. I would also like to thank Coach Athena, Coach Ben, and Coach Neal for giving me this incredible opportunity! I can’t wait to be a seminole and see what the future holds. GO NOLES ❤️💛”
Houborg trains year-round with San Ramon Valley Aquatics and earned a best time and a second-swim in the 400m IM at Junior Nationals this past summer. She garnered silver in the 400m free and bronze in the 800m free at Walnut Speedo Sectionals. Last February, Houborg placed sixth in the 1000 free and eighth in the 500 free at Roseville Speedo Sectionals.
Her best times include:
- 200 free – 1:50.93
- 500 free – 4:51.42
- 1000 free – 10:08.52
- 1650 free – 16:48.68
- 200 IM – 2:05.14
- 400 IM – 4:20.47
Currently a junior at Dougherty Valley High School, Houberg finished sixth in the 500 free at the 2026 CIF State Championships after placing fourth in that event as well as the 200 free at the 2026 CIF North Coast Section Championships.
Florida State finished 10th at the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Championships. Houborg’s best time in the 500 free would’ve ranked first on the Seminoles’ roster last year while her top mile and 400 IM time would’ve been second.
