Georgia’s Kennedi Dobson swam to a new SEC record in the 500 freestyle on Friday night, touching in a 4:30.48. That broke the previous record of a 4:30.53 set by Jillian Cox of Texas back in February at the 2026 SEC Championships. Dobson lowered her previous best time of a 4:30.70 she swam for 2nd behind Cox at 2026 SECs.
In addition to an SEC record, Dobson now sits as the #9 performer all-time in the event, moving her right ahead of Cox who now moves to #10 all-time. Cox was 2nd in the event at 2026 NCAAs and Dobson was 3rd as the two finished behind Claire Weinstein of Cal who swam to an NCAA title in a 4:30.09.

This was Dobson’s first ever race in the CSL as she missed Match #2, Georgia’s first regular-season match of the season, due to illness. She now holds the top time in the NCAA this season.
