Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Serene Jourdy from Chappaqua, New York, has made a verbal commitment to the admission process* at Harvard University for 2027-28. She wrote on Swimcloud:
“I am beyond excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to the admissions process to continue my academic and athletic career at Harvard University. This journey has meant so much to me, and I am beyond grateful for every person who has supported me including my amazing parents and sister, friends, teammates, teachers, and coaches. Thank you to Coaches Carle and Michael for believing in me, driving me, and helping me grow into the athlete and person I am today. A special thank you to Coach Amanda and Coach Geordie for giving me the opportunity to join such an incredible team and community. This is truly a dream come true! GO CRIMSON!!! ❤️”
Jourdy is a senior at Chappaqua’s Horace Greeley High School. A year ago, she placed 2nd in the 100 fly (54.92, a PB) and 3rd in the 100 back (55.98) at the NYSPHSAA (New York Public Schools) Girls’ State Championship; she also led off the medley relay (26.66).
Swimming for her club team, Westchester Aquatic Club, at the Senior Mets Winter Championships in March, she improved her lifetime bests in the 50 free (24.24), 100 fly (55.05), and 200 fly (2:01.02) and finaled in the 50 free (15th), 100 back (10th), 100 fly (9th), and 200 fly (2nd). Later that month she traveled to Virginia to compete at SwimRVA’s Shamrock Showdown and lowered her time in the 50 free (23.90). At the same meet last year, she clocked a PB in the 200 back (2:01.79).
Jourdy had a successful long course season this summer, improving her lifetime bests in the 50 free (27.45), 100 free (59.90), 200 free (2:09.60), 50 fly (29.02), 100 fly (1:02.37), and 200 fly (2:18.13). She closed out the season at Summer Juniors, where she competed in the 50/100/200 fly and finaled in the 200 (31st place).
Best SCY times:
- 100 back – 55.54
- 200 back – 2:01.79
- 100 fly – 54.92
- 200 fly – 2:01.02
- 50 free – 23.90
Jourdy will join swimmers Alexia Brockmann, Amelia Gipson, Charlotte Duijser, and Grace McCarthy, and diver Jacqueline Chen, in the Crimson class of 2031. Her times would have scored at last year’s Ivy League Women’s Championships in the ‘B’ final of the 200 fly and the ‘C’ finals of the 100 fly and 100/200 back.
*Note: A verbal commitment between an Ivy League coach and a prospective student-athlete is not an offer of admission, as only the Admission Office has that authority. The coach can only commit his or her support in the admission process. Ivy League Admission Offices do not issue “Likely Letters” before October 1 of the prospective student-athlete’s senior year of high school. The Likely Letter, while issued after an initial read of the student’s application, is not an offer of admission to the university.
If you have a commitment to report, please send an email with a photo (landscape, or horizontal, looks best) and a quote to [email protected].
