The Don Callis Family want ‘all the gold’ according to the AEW faction’s leader, but that might require an expansion of its membership.
Formed in May 2023, The Don Callis Family has held six AEW titles to date, with one glaring omission from that collection and an entire category yet to be represented.
AEW Full Gear could see a change in fortunes, but more can be done to take ‘all the gold’ and it’s an easy fix for Callis:
The accolades so far
Of all the AEW titles to have ended up in their possession, it’s the International Championship that is most closely associated, with six reigns seeing Will Ospreay, Konosuke Takeshita and Kyle Fletcher all holding the title, while Kazuchika Okada has held it twice and is the current champion.
Kyle Fletcher also features in the second most-held title, being a two-time TNT Champion, while Kevin Knight has held it once.
The Continental Championship, National Championship and World Trios Championship have also come under the control of Don Callis Family members, with Okada also being AEW Unified Champion, having held the Continental Championship and International Championship.
The AEW World Championship
Currently in the hands of Will Ospreay, the Don Callis Family is yet to see the AEW World Championship as a trophy.
Ospreay may have been a member of the faction, but he parted ways with them back in July 2024, leading to the start of a bitter rivalry with Fletcher.
That feud will be revisited at Full Gear on November 14, with Fletcher recently noting he beat Ospreay at the same event back in 2024.
More gold to hold
Throughout its history, the faction has been all male, with a missed opportunity to expand the quest for gold to the women’s roster.
If Fletcher were to become World Champion, successfully overtures towards Mercedes Mone as Women’s World Champion would see the pair as the king and queen of the Don Callis Family and AEW itself, with The CEO arguably even more unstoppable with the backing of the faction.
Queen Aminata has recently been crowned TBS Champion, defeating Persephone on Fright Night Dynamite, and would be an imposing presence for the faction.
The Brawling Birds, while Women’s World Tag Team Champions, would be a tough sell for Callis, given that they are both members of United Empire.
Beyond the championships
Champions are all well and good, but they bring something else to proceedings in the form of challengers.
Expanding the Don Callis Family to include women’s roster members in general offers an opportunity for new rivalries to be made against the backdrop of a faction seeking glory.
Of the current factions, The Conglomeration has Willow Nightingale, Death Riders has Marina Shafir, MXM TV includes Taya Valkyrie, Shane Taylor Promotions includes Trish Adora and Christyan XO as members of The Infantry, Skyflight has Leila Grey and Zayda Steel, while United Empire features Alex Windsor & Jamie Hayter.
With so much talent across the faction landscape in AEW, it’s a missed opportunity for Don Callis Family to not pursue additions from the women’s roster of its own.
