Arthur Fery and Cameron Norrie will be hoping to join a host of other British players who have won the Vienna Open.
The Vienna Open is one of the most prestigious ATP 500 tournaments on the calendar, and this year it will be holding the 52nd edition of the event.
Some of the previous winners of the Vienna Open are Roger Federer, Jannik Sinner and Andre Agassi, with Brian Gottfried winning the most titles in the Austrian capital (4).
As well as these players winning the title at the Vienna Open, there have also been four British players who have won the tournament.

Andy Murray and Jack Draper headline former British winners of the Vienna Open
Greg Rusedski was the first British player to reach the Vienna Open final, but he lost in the 1997 championship match to Goran Ivanisevic. Rusedski returned to the Vienna Open final two years later, and this time he was able to win the final after beating Nicolas Kiefer to become the first ever British champion of the tournament.
The following year, Rusedski attempted to defend his Vienna Open title, but lost in the second round. Despite this, there was still a British player lifting the title in Vienna, as Tim Henman beat the likes of Federer and Tommy Haas to make it back-to-back British winners.
It was 14 years until another British player even reached the final at the Vienna Open, which Andy Murray did in 2014. Murray would win the Vienna Open title by beating David Ferrer in the final. Murray would not return to Vienna in 2015 to defend his title, but he won the title again in 2016 when he competed at the event.

After battling with injuries, Murray did not return to the Vienna Open again until 2021, where he won his 10th consecutive match at the tournament before losing in the second round against Carlos Alcaraz.
The fourth and most recent British Vienna Open champion would be crowned in 2024, as Jack Draper beat the likes of Karen Khachanov, Lorenzo Musetti and Kei Nishikori to win what at the time was the biggest title of his career. Draper was unable to defend his title in 2025 and he will also not be at the 2026 tournament after ending his season early following continued injury struggles.
As well as having four British singles champions, there have also been four British men win the doubles title. This includes the now-retired Joe Salisbury winning the Vienna Open three times with two different partners, while Lloyd Glasspool and Julian Cash won the 2025 title.
Arthur Fery and Cameron Norrie’s potential routes to the Vienna Open title
Hoping to join Rusedski, Henman, Murray and Draper this year are the aforementioned Fery and Norrie, who are two of the three British players in the main draw of this year’s Vienna Open, alongside Jacob Fearnley, who came through qualifying.
Fery has already enjoyed a breakout season after reaching the Wimbledon semi-finals and becoming the British number one for the first time.
The 24-year-old will be hoping to make another breakthrough at the Vienna Open, where Fery has been drawn to play a qualifier in the first round. Fery will be up against it if he is to win the title, with the likes of Alexander Zverev, Flavio Cobolli and Frances Tiafoe all in his half of the draw.
- First Round: Qualifier
- Second Round: Frances Tiafoe (6)/Lorenzo Musetti
- Quarter-final: Alexander Zverev (1)/Brandon Nakashima
- Semi-final: Flavio Cobolli (4)/Alex de Minaur (5)
- Final: Carlos Alcaraz (2)/Daniil Medvedev (3)
Norrie is in the other half of the draw, as he looks to return to form after losing his last five consecutive matches. Norrie knows his first round opponent is Francisco Cerundolo, who he has lost two of his three previous matches against.
If Norrie is able to win his first match against Cerundolo since 2022, he could face Almaty Open champion Daniil Medvedev, with Alcaraz and Jakub Mensik also in his half of the draw.
- First Round: Francisco Cerundolo
- Second Round: Daniil Medvedev (3)/Daniel Merida
- Quarter-final: Jakub Mensik (8)/Ignacio Buse
- Semi-final: Carlos Alcaraz (2)/Tommy Paul (7)
- Final: Alexander Zverev (1)/Flavio Cobolli (4)
The main draw of the Vienna Open will get underway on Monday, October 26, with Zverev and Medvedev the only former champions at this year’s event.
Sinner won the Vienna Open last year, but will not return to defend his title after ending his season due to an ongoing knee injury.
