The Indian River State College Foundation has launched a fundraising campaign to help save the school’s swimming & diving programs.

The school announced Wednesday that the Foundation has established a $15 million fundraising goal to create an endowment intended to provide long-term financial support for the program.

“Alumni, families and supporters can donate or volunteer,” the school said. “Gifts of any amount, including $10 a month, make a difference.”

There will be an initial volunteer meeting on Friday, November 6—learn more here.

SwimSwam reported on Oct. 20 that the future of the swim & dive programs was on the agenda for the college’s Board of Trustees Governance & Legislative Affairs Committee on Oct. 27.

During last week’s meeting, the Board of Trustees voted to table the president’s recommendation to eliminate the program.

The future of the programs will be back up for discussion during the next Board of Directors Meeting on Nov. 17.

The school noted that “contributions to the campaign do not guarantee the programs will continue.”

Indiana River State College, located in Fort Pierce, Fla., competes in Division I of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), and its swim & dive teams have had a historic dynasty for over five decades.

The men’s team won its 52nd consecutive NJCAA title this past March, extending the longest active championship streak in all of college athletics, while the Pioneers women’s program won its 48th straight championship.

The Indian River State College swim & dive teams are led by head coach Sion Brinn, a former member of the Pioneers from 1991 until 1993 who competed at two Olympic Games, representing Jamaica in 1996 and Great Britain in 2000. Brinn has been the team’s head coach since 2013.

There are currently 22 women and 21 men on the Indian River State swim & dive rosters.

The men are already 2-0 on the 2026-27 season, defeating Division I Florida Atlantic in September and NAIA St. Thomas last weekend, while the women are 1-1 after falling to FAU and topping the Bobcats.
