Texas A&M University has confirmed that members of its men’s swimming team have been unavailable for competition early this season due to “student-related conduct violations.”

Texas A&M head coach Blaire Anderson said that the school has completed its review of the reported violations and action has been taken in a letter sent to team members and parents.

“Behavior that falls short of Texas A&M’s Core Values has no place in our program,” Anderson said. “We will continue working closely with university leadership to uphold the standards expected at Texas A&M.”

The conduct violations are hazing related, SwimSwam has learned.

SwimSwam reported over the weekend that seven members of the Aggie men’s team have not competed at either of the team’s first two official meets against Georgia on Oct. 10 and LSU this past Friday, Oct. 23.

The list includes fifth-year Connor Foote, seniors Logan Brown and Ben Scholl, junior Chase Swearingen and sophomore Alejandro Michelena.

Freshman swimmer Wyatt Vitiello and first-year diver Manuel Iglesias have also not yet competed, though that’s due to injury or illness, the school said.

Brown was the lone individual swimming qualifier for the Aggies at last season’s NCAA Championships, while Scholl and Michelena were both relay-only swimmers at NCAAs. Foote, who sat out of competition last season, has scored individually in all three of his NCAA Championship appearances in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

It’s not yet clear what the sanctions are, though Foote, Brown, Scholl, Swearingen and Michelena remain listed on Texas A&M’s 2026-27 roster.

Racing shorthanded, the Texas A&M men are 0-2, falling 222-78 to Georgia and 181.5-116.5 to LSU, and aren’t scheduled to compete again until the Texas Invitational Nov. 18-20.

In 2023-24, a large portion of Texas A&M male swimmers were reportedly suspended for the fall semester due to hazing. That was prior to Anderson taking over as head coach (May 2024).
