WWE NXT Halloween Havoc 2026 is now in the books and following his win over Tony D’Angelo in the main event, Grayson Waller is still NXT Champion.

Waller will now look ahead to the biggest match of his career this Wednesday on WWE NXT (November 4), when he defends his title against SmackDown’s CM Punk. For D’Angelo however, the future is far less clear.

Having accomplished everything there is to accomplish in NXT across a five-year spell, it certainly seems like the right time for Tony D to finally be moved on to Raw or SmackDown.

But how could WWE go about booking his debut? Here are two potential options on the table.

Trick Williams’ next United States Title challenger

WWE United States Champion Trick Williams

Trick Williams began his second United States Title reign by defeating Baron Corbin at Sunday Night’s Main Event

After Trick Williams failed in his attempt to dethrone Sami Zayn for the Undisputed WWE Championship on the October 30 SmackDown, the presumption is that his focus will shift back towards defending his United States Title.

The clearest candidate for that spot right now is probably Damian Priest, as he has voiced his displeasure at Williams receiving a shot at the Undisputed WWE Title, and stands out as the most credible heel challenger in the SmackDown mid-card.

However, with Priest currently preoccupied by Fraxiom and, beyond that, potentially the return of R-Truth, WWE could go a different route for now, and have Tony D’Angelo turn heel by immediately attacking “Trick Willy” upon his debut on SmackDown.

Despite arriving in NXT at similar times and sharing a locker room together on the brand for four years, Williams and D’Angelo have somehow never faced off before in WWE; making for an interesting potential matchup should Tony D get called up.

Helps The Vision retain World Tag Team Titles at Crown Jewel

The Vision's Bron Breakker and Austin Theory as WWE World Tag Team Champions

Bron Breakker and Austin Theory will defend their World Tag Team Titles for the first time at Crown Jewel 2026 when they take on Penta & Je’Von Evans.

Joining a faction is always a good way for WWE to introduce new stars to the main roster audience; as seen with the likes of Jaida Parker and OTM over the past couple months.

It allows a WWE star to ease into the main roster by working alongside more established names and limits the pressure to get over immediately. Tony D’Angelo has always worked as a leader rather than a follower, but on the main roster he may be better served joining a group until he gets his feet wet.

The group that would probably be the best for D’Angelo right now is The Vision. Again, it would require a heel turn, but the group has grown a bit stagnant and could do with an injection of something new.

With Bron Breakker and Austin Theory defending their World Tag Team Championships against Je’Von Evans & Penta at Crown Jewel, D’Angelo could prove to be the reason The Vision retain.
